About

Why work with me?

I have worn many hats over the years to include Director of Client Experience, Transition Coordinator, VP – Talent Development, Educator, and Nonprofit Executive. I have professionally reinvented myself throughout my career due to personal decisions, physical moves, and career desires.

Through past and current, paid and volunteer roles, I have supported others in their moves and I thoroughly enjoy it.

A little more about me…

Review my profile on LinkedIn to see where I have been and what I have been lucky enough to accomplish. And yes, I created my own LinkedIn profile.

And, finally,  “deKryger” means “the warrior”– hence my company’s name.

I look forward to working with you.

Bio

Krista Ann (Kohlhausen) deKryger has over 10 years’ experience in non-profits and their operational, departmental, and programmatic development. Her background includes working with Fortune 100 companies, higher education, the military, governmental agencies/officials, museum personnel, political and entertainment celebrities, school systems and their administrators.

Krista served as the Vice President of Education for New York City’s Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, as Director of the Walter & Leonore Annenberg Presidential Learning Center at the Ronald Reagan Museum & Foundation, as Transition Specialist at Wounded Warrior Battalion West for the United States Marine Corps, and as Vice President – Operations and Talent Development for Junior Achievement of Georgia. Krista now works for Pathbuilders as the Director of Client Services which is focused on the continued development of high performing female leaders. Krista also has 9 years of experience teaching in the K-8 classroom in public schools.

As a transplant in Atlanta from New York by way of Southern California, Krista knew it was time to build up her southern network. Krista was honored to serve as the Chief Communications Officer for VETLANTA, a club whose focus is to attract and support transitioning military and their families to the greater Atlanta area and on the Advisory Council for Gardens for Growing Community Inc. Until recently, Krista was a volunteer for Hire Heroes USA (as a mock interviewer and career coach), Warrior 2 Citizen, the Norcross Discovery Park (Community) Garden, and the Norcross Cooperative Ministry.

In 2013 Krista was proud to be awarded “Civilian of the Year” by the USMC’s Wounded Warrior Regiment for her work out of Camp Pendleton’s Wounded Warrior Battalion West. She was recruited to co-develop operating procedures and standards for a seven-year-old department, identify problems and implement effective solutions that aided successful career transition of active duty service members and their spouses to the civilian sector. There she conducted one-on-one counseling and evaluated assessments for all veterans, spouses, and caretakers that recognized natural strengths, skills, and interests that focused on career planning and future decision making.

Krista earned a BA in English Literature from Rutgers College and an MS in Education from Bank Street College of Education. She is a certified Myers Briggs Type Indicator and Strong Interest Inventory assessor and uses this training to help clients of all ages and backgrounds improve their resumes and LinkedIn profiles to find meaningful work.

“The Word Warrior”  lives in a small town outside our great city with her husband, Major Timothy deKryger, USMC (ret), and their 2 rescue dogs (Laguna and Georgia) and 2 rescue cats (Bronx and Mali).  Krista and Tim are happy to have convinced both sets of parents to relocate to Gwinnett County, in Georgia, for retirement.
